Chery's Jetour T1 crossover has received Kazakh vehicle type approval (OTTS), business outlet Kursiv reported on October 12. The manufacturer named in the document is the SaryarkaAvtoProm plant in Kostanay, part of the Allur group, which already assembles other Jetour models. According to Kursiv, the approval was issued on October 10 and runs until October 9, 2029.
The first to report it was the Russian site Kitayskie Avtomobili, which said on October 9 that it found the document while monitoring the database of Kazakhstan's standards agency and gave the same expiry date. Russia's Za Rulem and Kazakhstan's 4x4.media followed with matching specifications. The two original reports differ by a day on the issue date, so we rely on the expiry date. This English version is written from the Russian-language reports; no English-language coverage was found.
The approval lists two versions. The new one is front-wheel drive, with a 1.5-litre turbo engine producing 170 hp and 270 Nm and a seven-speed robotised gearbox; it has not been sold in Kazakhstan before. The second is all-wheel drive with a 2.0-litre engine rated at 245 hp and 375 Nm and an eight-speed automatic. The imported T1 currently on sale is rated at 254 hp and 390 Nm, Kursiv noted. The car measures 4,705 x 1,967 x 1,843 mm.

An important caveat: type approval is a precondition for series production and vehicle registration, not evidence that production has started. Start date, capacity, localisation level and prices have not been announced by the official distributor, and we do not quote prices. The technical regulation registry could not be opened directly, as it is a script-driven page, so the certification is attributed to media reports.
Editor's view: Kostanay already assembles several Chinese brands, and with the T1 the demand for kit shipping, warehousing and local components will depend on volumes that are not yet known. Certifying a simpler front-wheel-drive version usually points to a lower entry price, but that will only be clear once pricing is announced.
